Seychelles Conservatoire of Performing Arts students in music and dance attained worldwide level

Seychelles Conservatoire of Performing Arts students in music and dance attained worldwide level (Forimmediaterelease.net) The Seychelles Conservatoire of Performing Arts pursued its goal to partner with Ministry of Education to further develop the will of young students to take dance and music seriously.

Pierre Joseph, the Director of the Seychelles Conservatoire of Performing Arts, made this comment in the presence of Benjamine Rose, the Principal Secretary for Culture in the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, in the certificate-giving ceremony for students who excelled in their exams in music and dance.

The Director of the Seychelles Conservatoire of Performing Arts called on the private sector to take a more decisive role in development of students` dance and music skills into creative activities.

“We cannot have awards every year; have knowledgeable students of grade 8 in both dance and music, hesitating to pursue a career in performing arts,” said Pierre Joseph in his opening remarks.

He continued by giving a thumbs-up to the Seychelles Ministry of Education who will work with the Conservatoire of Performing Arts.

“I have the commitment of the Ministry of Education that work to enhance development in the performing arts is ready, and I take this opportunity to welcome this,” Pierre Joseph outlined.

The Seychelles Conservatoire of Performing Arts rewarded over a hundred students who sat for their British Examination of Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Imperial Society of Teachers and Dance certificates.

Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music Exam graded children and adults from grades one to eight. Certificate recipients of grade 8 can eventually opt to pursue diploma and degree levels in music. Out of the 60 students who sat for the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music, one completed grade 8.

Whereas of the students in ballet and modern dance theatre, 40 passed their exams with flying colors and walked away with the Imperial Society of Teachers and Dance Certificates (ISTD). An international examiner from the London reputed school of Imperial Society of Teachers and Dance was in Seychelles in 2013 to evaluate the students. Daniella Rose, a Conservatoire of Performing Arts dance instructor, was the only recipient of the Modern Theatre Licentiate. With this certificate, she became the only dance teacher in Seychelles to hold both a license and award certificate. The license is renewed occasionally when a new component of a syllabus is required. Both international awards – the Imperial Society of Teachers and Dance (ISTD) and the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) - are highly recognized by boards, colleges, and institutions worldwide.

The Director of Conservatoire of Performing Arts said Seychelles is proud to be part of this family of performing artists. He said that the awards “given for a year of work by the students is proof that they have the equivalents of worldwide talents.”
