New Year off to flying start at Frankfurt Airport and Group Airports
The New Year got off to a flying start with strong passenger figures recorded at the Group`s equity-owned airports. In January 2014, Xi`an Airport (XIY) in northwestern China welcomed about 2.2 million passengers – a 20.1 percent jump year-on-year. In South America, Peru`s Lima Airport (LIM) registered a 5.6 percent rise in traffic to about 1.3 million passengers. Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg (LED), Russia, had 831,020 passengers in January 2014 – a double-digit gain of 15.3 percent. Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera received 613,274 passengers, representing an 8.5 percent increase year-on-year. With 279,181 passengers in the reporting month, Hanover Airport (HAJ) in Lower Saxony, Germany, grew slightly by 0.2 percent. On the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, Varna (VAR) and Burgas (BOJ) airports together served a total of 27,288 passengers, down 4.2 percent compared to the same month last year.
