Coupons and pralines for the Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival

Coupons and pralines for the Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival ( A pleasant surprise for Chinese passengers: Frankfurt Airport and Air China are currently greeting passengers flying to China with vouchers for duty-free purchases. The occasion is the Chinese New Year, which this time ushers in the Year of the Horse and with it the promise of change and adventure. The airline`s check-in agents are giving departing passengers red envelopes containing three discount coupons that they can redeem in Duty Free shops at the airport. The coupons let them save 10 euros on a purchase of 150 euros, pay 25 euros less on a purchase of 300 euros or more, or get a 50-euro discount when spending 500 euros.

On February 14, Frankfurt Airport is also celebrating the Chinese Lantern Festival by giving small boxes of pralines to passengers arriving from and departing to China. The airport has designed and stocked more than 7,000 of the boxes filled with sweet treats.

China accounts for around a million passengers a year, making it an important market for Frankfurt Airport. The airport is, therefore, gearing itself to accommodate Chinese guests. Its website can be switched to Chinese with a single click, and the Frankfurt Airport App can be downloaded to smartphones in Chinese. Chinese-language brochures containing useful information on transferring and shopping can be picked up in the terminals. And Chinese Personal Shoppers are available to accompany and advise passengers from China while they shop at the airport.

The activities to benefit Chinese passengers are part of the ongoing “Great to Have You Here!” service program, which Frankfurt Airport launched several years ago to introduce a wide range of enhancements to make it even easier and more pleasant to transfer at Germany`s largest aviation hub. In 2013, Frankfurt Airport welcomed more than 58 million passengers.
