Midgardsskolan School of Umea in Sweden welcomes Seychelles Minister for a meeting with Seychellois student Wilnette Joseph

Midgardsskolan School of Umea in Sweden welcomes Seychelles Minister for a meeting with Seychellois student Wilnette Joseph (Forimmediaterelease.net) Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, was received yesterday at the Midgardsskolan School of Umea in Sweden by Hakan From, the Principal of the school.

Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles was being accompanied for this visit by Lennart Swenson, the Honorary Consul of the Seychelles in Sweden. The Minister, who was on a working visit to Umea of Sweden wanted to meet Seychellois student Wilnette Joseph, and also see for himself the school that has been receiving students from the Seychelles as part of an exchange program for many years.

Wilnette Joseph was personally present to welcome the Seychelles Minister as he arrived at the school, and she was being accompanied by colleague student, Eveline Lind, from the host family taking care of Wilnette for the duration of her attachment period in Umea.

After a welcome briefing by Hakan From, the Principal of the school, the Minister from the Seychelles was given a full tour of the school accompanied by Lennart Swenson, Wilnette Joseph, and her colleague student with whom she resides.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional standard of this school. The openness of the Principal who was more than willing to let me see the school was appreciated. More importantly for me was to see the Seychellois student, Wilnette Joseph, who is presently studying at this school and to meet a member of the host family taking care of her. The Principal`s report on the performance of Wilnette was encouraging, and it demonstrated the merit of this exchange program between Seychelles and the city of Umea of Sweden," Minister St.Ange said.

Since 2011, the Midgardsskolan School of Umea in Sweden has been receiving students from Seychelles, and the program has so far been hassle free.

Wilnette Joseph of Bel Ombre in Mahe said that she was happy with her attachment period in Umea. She was satisfied with the accommodation arrangements made for her as a home stay with a Swedish family with a same-age student attending the same school. Umea is currently experiencing a hard winter, especially for anyone from the Seychelles, but Wilnette confirmed that she was being cared for with suitable clothing and that she had adjusted well to the weather.
