Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives wins Leading Family Resort award for second year running
The awards are presented each year by the Maldives Association of Travel Agents&Tour Operators (MATATO), which represents more than 50 organizations in Maldives.
Scoring for the awards is based on online votes from travel agents, operators and guests, and also on a rigorous inspection by judges, which includes a judging panel in Male and a visit by judges to the resorts.
“The awards were started in 2012, when we entered in this category and won,” says Voytek Klasicki, general manager of Centara Grand Island Resort&Spa Maldives. “Winning for the second time is a tremendous triumph for us, as the competition was intense. Our team here on the island is thrilled. Our success reflects on each and every one of them.”
Centara Grand Island Resort&Spa Maldives is located in the South Ari Atoll, about 25 minutes by seaplane from Male International Airport, or 15 minutes by speedboat from the domestic Maamigili Airport.
The resort features a cashless island experience with its Ultimate All-Inclusive program, and for children and teens this means all meals, soft drinks and activities throughout their stay, including being able to join their parents on up to five excursions.
Accommodation is designed especially for families, with the Water Villas fitted with child safety features, bunk beds and a PlayStation 3. The Two-bedroom Pool Villas have one of the bedrooms equipped with twin beds.
The house reef offers snorkeling just meters from all sides of the shore, with free snorkeling equipment and non-motorized water sports.
The Kids` Club features an E-Zone for teenagers, with videos, PlayStation 3, pool tables, air hockey, snooker, table tennis and other games, while Camp Safari is a separate zone for younger children, offering supervised activities. All of this is without charge.
The resort in 2013 launched a promotion with domestic carrier Flyme in which one child travelling with a family has a free flight from Male International Airport to Maamagili Airport. One child also stays at the resort completely free of charge, leaving parents with only the cost of the international flight.
