Reunion Island welcomes six German tour operators eductour ( The IRT (Reunion Island Tourism), in partnership with the regional airline Air Austral, conducted an eductour for tour operators of the German market. From December 6-11, the six tourism professionals explored the island of La Reunion, its people, its landscapes, and also its tourism products, with an update on the IRT operation.

After a flight with Air Austral, six product managers from Reisen Ast, At Reisen, Atambo Tours, Cruising Reise, and Wigwam Naturreisen Oriental Tours arrived at the island of La Reunion on Friday, December 6, 2013.

Accompanied by the representative of IRT in Germany, Annika Heckler, the first day of their journey of discovery took place on the seaside coast on the west side of the island. After lunch at Nautilus, followed by a visit to the hotel, the group went to Boucan Canot then Saline tuk tuk, a new ecological and atypical tourism product proposed by Ote Tuktuk. Professionals respectively visited the hotels and Saint Alexis Lux Reunion Island.

The next day started with a trip to the open market of Saint-Paul while monitoring overflights of the island of La Reunion in ULM with Felix. By late morning, the participants went to Saint-Denis to visit the Bellepierre hotel. After meeting Nadine Wiss, mountain guide, they took the road towards the Salazie and numerous waterfalls. On site, the group discovered the relay of Governors, France Cottage located in the village of Hell-Bourg, as well as hotels and Gardens Heva Relay Treetop.

A program followed with two days of hiking. The Germans left for Mafate via the Col des oxen to regain New and Marla, where they spent the night at the house of the Three Rocks. Upon awakening, hikers left to rally Marla Cilaos through the neck of Taibit. A well-deserved lunch was served to them on the road Tapacala Islet String, upon arrival at Cilaos. In the afternoon, the participants visited several accommodations circus: Cilaos, Old Vine, and the Tsilaosa Hotel des Neiges.

On December 10, 2013 the start was given for the south coast of the island with a visit to the Domaine du Cafe Grilled where the group enjoyed coffee and fresh juices. Thereafter, they headed to the wild south direction for lunch at the Palm Hotel&Spa, before leaving for St. Anne, where product managers have spent the night at Diana Dea.

The trip would not have been complete without a trip to the volcano, Piton de la Fournaise, and the as Germans approached the last day, they stopped for lunch at Relais Commerson Bourg Murat. Participants in this journey of discovery of the island then left for a meeting with local DMCs, including the Mercure Creolia located in Saint-Denis. By late afternoon, a transfer led the professionals to Roland Garros airport where they flew to Paris.

For these German tour operators, the eductour this was a real success. Some tour operators in this group do not program the island of La Reunion, but now after the major educational operation prepared by the IRT, whose objective is to develop the awareness and sales of the destination in the German market, the officials have now been familiarized with the tourism products of the island and may begin promoting Reunion.
