When he addressed the many members of the local Chinese community, Mr. Charlie NG, the Chairman of the Seychelles Chinese association, said that he was happy to see so many members of the community at the Pagoda for this traditional ceremony, but also to see the relaunch of the association's efforts to unite the local Chinese descendants.

The Chairman of the Association and H.E. the Chinese Ambassador both thanked the government of Seychelles for their support to work with the association to get the Victoria Chinese Pagoda rebuilding project moving. They both also thanked the Seychelles Ministry of Tourism and Culture for accepting to work with them to mark the Chinese Spring Festival in Seychelles from next year. “We shall celebrate a Chinese day Celebration from 2014 and on January 31 next year we shall have the first Seychelles-China Day Celebrations right here in Benezet Street to bring the Chinese Culture to the forefront," the Chinese Ambassador said.

Both Minister Vincent Meriton and Minister Alain St.Ange representing the Seychelles government at the ceremony at the Chinese Pagoda said in turn as they addressed the gathered members of the Chinese community that they were happy to be working with the local Chinese Association and with the Ambassador to not only get the Pagoda rebuilt, but they were also both eager to work with the local Chinese community to see an annual China Day placed on the list of national events celebrated in Seychelles.
