UNWTO Secretary-General Francesco Frangialli said, “The best General Assembly I have ever attended in all the 18 years that I have been with UNWTO - Very organized, Colombians are hospitable; everyone was joyful.”

He went on to say “Colombia is consolidating its position as a new destination with tourism taking off strongly, proving that it has probably one of the biggest tourism potentials of South America, from mountains to the Amazon, with two different coasts and a vibrating culture “.

Prior to the start of the Assembly Tourism Minister Luis Guillermo Plata was asked by delegates what risk they faced coming to Colombia – he replied, “The risk is you may want to stay”.
