Urny Mathiot, the known Seychelles artis,t heads for “Jeux de la Francophonie” in Nice, France ( With his place already secured for the “Jeux de la Francophonie” in Nice, France, between September 7-15, Urny Mathiot is now more than ever convinced, that although he is facing a daunting task of making Seychelles proud at these games, “I am determined to give the best of myself and raise Seychelles’ flag high," said Urny Mathiot at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture yesterday.

Urnu Mathiot, who is an employee of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, has worked tirelessly to be listed as one of the Seychelles reputed photographers and artists.

Through a consecutive series of photos and painting exhibitions, Urny Mathiot has carved his name on the wall of the talented. This trip to France will be the second consecutive participation in “Jeux de la Francophonie.” Urny Mathiot says that his experience at the 2007 Francophonie Games in the Lebanese capital of Beyrouth places him in a better position to understand the quality of work required for this 2013 competition. “My goal is to remain focused. I will bring new elements into my work and score the maximum points to remain in the competition,” Urny Mathiot said.

Urny is one of the group of Seychellois artists selected for 2013 “Jeux de la Francophonie.” He is participating as a photographer. He explained that he “is honored to represent his country in a high-level competition.”

Before flying to Nice, Urny Mathiot met Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, to present a copy of his biography. His biography will be used as a marketing tool for his work and to build his contacts among other participants of the 6th edition of “Jeux de la Francophonie.”
