Seychelles Festival Kreol committee discusses detailed proposed program to event coordinators

Seychelles Festival Kreol committee discusses detailed proposed program to event coordinators ( As the organization of the Seychelles Festival Kreol 2013 is being consolidated, final touches are being put to the festival's program of events. The proposed eight-day program was presented and discussed with event coordinators of Seychelles Festival Kreol in a meeting chaired by Alain St.Ange, the island's Minister for Tourism and Culture; Benjamine Rose, Principal Secretary for Culture; and Marcel Rosalie, Director General for Culture. For the past weeks, a list of popular events of Seychelles Festival Kreol and new initiatives were still being proposed to feature on the final program. Although the Seychelles Festival Kreol has kept its list of popular events, the committee has listed new events on the program to give the Seychelles Festival Kreol 2013 its wowing effect.

One of the most spectacular events will be the official opening on October 25. This year the organizing committee is taking the event out of the International Conference Centre to an open-air official opening ceremony in the heart of Victoria. Another spectacular event which this year has been given a new twist is the “Kreol Serenade” and the “Pipili Kreol.”

For these events, the organizing committee has set the standard very high by capturing the participation of all twenty-five districts on Mahe and of the inner islands. This will see every district of Seychelles represented in Victoria for the Creole Serenade. Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, explained that for the 28th edition of the island's Festival Kreol, the committee is playing a human card and will be staging a recognition to a Seychellois veteran in the music industry at the official opening ceremony of the festival.

“We often forget that it makes more sense to pay tribute to an artist when they are still in this world. The Festival Kreol committee is in the process of selecting the artist that will join us in the official opening ceremony and be presented with a certificate of appreciation. The selected artist will be thanked in front of the crowd for his/her immense contribution in the Seychelles Creole musical industry,” Minister Alain St.Ange said.

Presenting the proposed program to the event coordinators, the Festival Kreol committee took stock of their concerns and suggestions. Minor amendments have been proposed, and the official version will be released soon.

Minister St.Ange also reiterated on the concept of this year’s edition as he claimed that Festival Kreol 2013 will be populist in all its aspects. “It will be more spectacular and bigger than previous years,” Minister St.Ange said.
