Event: Roger Moore, Robert DeNiro and Harry Belafonte – celebrity survivors of cancer – can thank Milken’s efforts at this East Hampton fundraiser for the Prostate Cancer Foundation ( Hamptonites led by Glenn Myles, CEO of First Wall Street Capital, to stage “A Blast from the Past,” a 1950s-themed fundraiser on August 24, 2013, for the benefit of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Billionaires Leon and Debra Black, David and Julia Koch, Richard and Karen LeFrak, and Dick Merkin join Glenn and Jennifer Myles, and Mike and Lori Milken, in a one-of-a-kind event on August 24. Called the “Rydell High School Sock Hop,” the event is “A Blast from the Past” homage to the iconic images and performances from the 1950s made popular in the blockbuster musical Grease.

Get ready for drive-in diners and movie theaters, carhops and a rockin’ soda fountain, girls in poodle skirts and guys with greased-back hair in leather pants. There’s even a nostalgic performance by the eternally cool duo Hall&Oates, whose 21 albums have sold 80 million units.

Using the metaphor of endurance over time that Grease and Hall&Oates personify, this fundraiser for the Prostate Cancer Foundation aims to honor the men and women who are fighting prostate and other types of cancer all over the world.

With so many celebrities affected by prostate cancer, including Harry Belafonte, James Brown, Robert DeNiro, Rudy Giuliani, Merv Griffin, John Kerry, Phil Lesh, Nelson Mandela, Roger Moore, Colin Powell and Johnny Ramone, this is one charity affair that is sure to draw a huge crowd of supporters. The celebrities that have confirmed attendance are owners of the most respected companies in media, entertainment, gaming, hospitality, real estate, healthcare and other industries.

The evening’s auction is rumored to include a $400,000 minimum bid for a week aboard a committee member’s yacht in the Caribbean, a full box for the U.S. Open quarter-finals along with tickets to the men’s and women’s finals, and rare vintage automobiles such as T-Birds, Corvettes and Mercedes. Providing the bites for the sock-hop theme is celebrity chef David Burke.

Creating this event has been a challenge for financiers Myles and Milken, who are both prostate cancer survivors themselves, as they wanted to create an incredibly special and yet accessible experience for everyone in the Hamptons. Opening the event will create more awareness for everyone, no matter how thick their checkbooks or deep their pockets. Glenn says, “It’s not the money you have, but what you do with it that counts. My grandmother would say: If you have your health you have everything. How much would you pay to expand your life expectancy or that of your loved ones?”

Event stylist and producer Colin Cowie aims to make this all possible by conceptualizing an affair that crosses borders and cuts imaginary lines of differences. Grease perfectly typifies this as the iconic feel-good film with a simple storyline but with the right groove and beat and message. In short, it works.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation, now on its 10th year, is the leading philanthropic organization in cancer research funding, having poured more than $10 billion into 1,600 programs in 200 centers in 17 countries. Milken, the force behind the foundation, was called “The Man Who Changed Medicine” in a 2004 cover article in Fortune magazine.

Myles and Milken do not see this as the last event they will work on together towards this cause. Like the visionary entrepreneurs they are, Milken says, “we also will team up for additional events in the future with an eye toward expanding our reach to the younger population. We believe that if we can make the 20- and 30-somethings more aware of what they can do to avoid potential cancer triggers, through nutrition and diet, for example, we will be able to make a dent in generations to come.”

Joining them to organize this event is Myles’ good friend of 20+ years, Bruce Lipnick, financial visionary and CEO of Crowd Alliance.
