Cultural monument of national importance under restoration

Cultural monument of national importance under restoration (Forimmediaterelease.net) LOS ANGELES, California - In preparation of the 100th anniversary in 2014, Green Globe Member, the Hannover Congress Center, in Hannover, Germany, is currently undergoing restoration of the historic building stock. The Hannover Congress Center is recognized as a “Cultural Monument of National Importance,” and the goal of this restoration process is to give back the old splendor to the historic front of the cupola hall.

Restoration works of this historic monument began in 2012, and the entire project will be ongoing for five years. The procedure is funded by the German government, the German Federal Commission for Cultural and Media Affairs, and the Federal State of Lower Saxony.

As the works committee confirmed in its April meeting, about 2 million Euros have been allocated for the next phase of construction, which will include the renovation of the foyer of the cupola hall, as well as the adjacent sanitary facilities

The concept of “Protecting Ancient Monuments” will serve as the guideline while the restoration process is in progress. On the basis of historic findings, the restoration will revive the atmosphere of the opening year 1914. The ball rooms on the upper level are planned to be renovated in all detail in the next phase.

“We are very pleased that in 2013 we will take a big step forward in the entire restoration process of the Hannover Congress Center,” said Joachim Koenig, Director at the HCC. “We gradually reach our goal to revive the historic basic structure of our venue in a modern way.”
