Seychelles Tourism Academy lecturers and students to be also trained in Shanghai and Thailand

Seychelles Tourism Academy lecturers and students to be also trained in Shanghai and Thailand (Forimmediaterelease.net) Seychelles Tourism Academy lecturers will now also be trained in the Shanghai Institute effective October 2013. In a joint meeting held in Shanghai between Kan Nian, President of Shanghai Institute of Tourism, Elsia Grandcourt, Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and Flavien Joubert, Principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy, reached a decision for lecturers of Seychelles Tourism Academy to benefit from a fully-sponsored course at Shanghai Institute of Tourism.

In the first batch of lecturers, a culinary lecturer will leave Seychelles in October 2013 for a two-month course at the Shanghai Institute of Tourism.

It will follow in February-December 2014 with another two culinary lecturers: two food and beverages service lecturers and one support staff. Seychelles Tourism Academy announced that in the future, “opportunities will be made available for STA/UNISEY Hospitality Management students to do their two months of work attachment in five-star hotels in Shanghai as an alternative to Mauritius and La Reunion.”

Elsia Grandcourt, Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and Flavien Joubert, Principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy presence in Shanghai, China, followed up a mission orchestrated by Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, on January 25, 2013 following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Shanghai Institute of Tourism and Seychelles Tourism Academy. In the scope of obtaining more exchanges for students and lecturers of the Seychelles Tourism Academy, Philippe Le Gall, Seychelles Ambassador to China, carried out a series of groundbreakings for the Academy with Universities in Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodi,a and Thailand.

The presence of Flavien Joubert, Principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy in China, was the ideal opportunity for him to meet with Philippe Le Gall and discuss these issues. It was officially confirmed during the meeting that Seychelles Tourism Academy Wellness and Spa lecturers will be trained in the Exclusive Private Wellness and Spa Training Centre in Thailand. Flavien Joubert, Principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy, said that the “excellent working relationship between Seychelles Embassy in China and Seychelles Tourism Academy is helping extensively to the success of the Seychelles Tourism Academy.”

Arrangements will be made for Wellness and Spa lecturers of Seychelles Tourism Academy to follow work attachments and pursue further training at the center. During their official mission in China, the Seychellois delegation also met Yang Weiwu, Chairman of the University; Eric Feng, Director of Foreign Affairs; Iris Yuan, Director of the International Exchange Centre; and Celia Wang of the International Exchange Centre of the University. Elsia Grandcourt, who headed the Seychellois delegation, also visited Hotel D’application and stayed in the Hotel D’application to experience the service offered by students.
