The Seychelles Tourism Board collaborates with Emirates to hold workshop for European and Asian tour operators ( A team from the Seychelles Tourism Board and senior officials from Emirates, led by Oomar Ramtoola, Emirates Manager for the Indian Ocean Islands, recently held two workshops for their partner tour operators at the Constance Ephelia Hotel in the Seychelles.

The first workshop was held on May 28, 2013 for some 10 European and Middle Eastern tour operators (UK, Germany, Russia, Denmark, Turkey, Kuwait, and Dubai) and was presided over by Elsia Grandcourt, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board. The tour operators in question stayed in Seychelles on average for 2 nights/3 days with the opportunity to stay at various hotel properties and embark on a day tour of Mahe.

The second workshop that was also held at the Constance Ephelia Hotel for tour operators from China, South Korea, and India took place on June 11, 2013 at which the Tourism Board was represented by Ms. Amy Michel, Senior Marketing Executive and Mr. Glynn Burridge, Chief Copywriter and Tourism Consultant with Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, making an appearance over lunch to deliver an address in which he encouraged attendees to continue collaborating in order to sell Seychelles more intensively.

Over twenty trade partners from the local hotels and DMCs (Destination Management Companies) also attended together with Emirates sales and pricing managers from the respective regions to study how best on ways to collaborate and work together in pushing more traffic to Seychelles during the low season. The workshops also provided participants with opportunities for the airline and local partners to become aware of any difficulties and issues that tour operators may be experiencing in selling the destination in their respective markets.

Feedback received from the participants in both events was positive and constructive as they prepare to act on the recommendations put forward at the forums.

Both local trade partners and overseas tour operators expressed their satisfaction with this initiative by the Tourism Board and Emirates to organize such an event and spoke of their desire that the workshops be expanded in 2014 to involve a greater number of tour operators.
