Madagascar and international press mark the re-election of Seychelles Minister as President of Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands

Madagascar and international press mark the re-election of Seychelles Minister as President of Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands ( The Seychelles Minister's re-election as President of the Indian Ocean's Vanilla Islands has been marked by the Madagascar press as a whole and also reported by international press from the four corners of the world.

The last day of the International Tourism Fair Madagascar 2013 saw the tourism fair's newspaper dedicate their front cover to show solidarity and support to Minister Alain St.Ange of the Seychelles on his re-election to the post of President of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands. Until now, this regional organization was comprised of the Seychelles, Madagascar, La Reunion, Mauritius, Comoros, and Mayotte, but following the re-election of the Seychelles Minister, it was immediately resolved that the Maldives, Rodrigues Island of Mauritius, Nosy Bay of Madagascar, as well as Praslin and La Digue Islands of the Seychelles would all be invited to formally take their places as new members of the regional body at the next Ministerial Meeting that will be held in Comoros.

The real surprise for all the member states is the interest shown by all the press of this general meeting of these Indian Ocean Islands. “This shows that the visibility of the organization has made us more relevant," said a representative of one of the islands.

Air access within the Indian Ocean zone and particularly markets such as China, are highlights of the Vanilla Island branding and visibility at tourism trade fairs starting with Top Resa in Paris and ITB Asia in Singapore. The next ministerial meeting of this regional organization will be held in the Comoros and will include the Maldives as a full member within the organization, along with affiliate members Rodrigues of Mauritius, Nosy Bay of Madagascar, Praslin, and La Digue of the Seychelles. At this Ministerial Meeting to be held in Madagascar, the drafting of a charter of sustainable tourism practices for the region is a matter reported by all the press as one of the points to be discussed and agreed upon.

The extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands was attended by Mr. Didier Robert, President of the Conseil Regional de La Reunion, Tourism Minister of Madagascar Mr. Jean-Max Rakotomamonjy, Tourism&Culture Minister of the Seychelles Mr. Alain St.Ange, Mrs. Hissane Guy of the Comoros Tourism Authority, and Mr. Michel Ahmed of the Mayotte Tourism Authority.
