A Seychelles Collection of recipes by Senior Citizens of Takamaka District of Mahe (Forimmediaterelease.net) Madame Antoinette Savy, the Chairman of the Senior Citizen of Takamaka Mahe used the 2013 Africa Day FetAfrik to present a copy of the Recipe Book “A Collection of Recipes” by the Residents of Takamaka District of Mahe to Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture.

Madame Antoinette Savy was one of the main drivers of this project with Mrs Heike Vierling who then took on the project to make it happen for this dedicated group so wanting to see the recipes handed down from one generation to another documented for generations to come.

Madame Savy explained to Minister St.Ange that it was on the 16th of April 2011 that Senior Citizens of Takamaka District showed their community the variety of pawpaw for culinary use. Because of this remarkable commitment it was possible to taste a lot of different delicious dishes. This is when the the senior Citizens of Takamaka of Mahe decided to work to get their recipes printed.

When he accepted a copy of the Recipe Book in the presence of Benjamine Rose, the PS for Culture, Minister Alain St.Ange said that he congratulated Madame Antoinette Savy and the Senior Citizens of Takamaka for documenting our cultural heritage. “You have had these recipes handed down to you by your very own parents and grandparents now documented for our generations to come. The Book Section of the Ministry will hold copies of your book as part of our prized collections. Thank you Madame Savy and thank you to the Senior Citizens of Takamaka of Mahe” Minister Alain St.Ange said.
