Flooding Closes Plettenberg Resort
November 23, 2007 in Accommodation
According to Mr Kobus Tait, Managing director of Forever Resorts SA, the Plettenberg Resort is nearly completely under water. “Our General Manager of Plettenberg reports that guests will not be able to make use of any of the camping sites as they are under water. Access to most of the 29 chalets on the Resort are also hindered by the amount of water.” Tait said.
With the matriculants and most students celebrating the end of their exams, the Resort is booked to full capacity. “We regret that we have to close the Resort temporarily, but it is out of our control and is done with the safety of our patrons in mind. We expect to re-open by Monday, pending the water levels subsiding and rains calming down. Currently the power supply to the Resort is also interrupted as the electric sub-station serving the property is also under water” Kobus said. An announcement on the re-opening of the Resort is expected towards the end of the weekend.
Forever Resorts have requested young people driving down to the Coast to drive carefully under the current conditions and road closures. We suggest that the students spend the weekend at our Resort at the Gariep Dam en-route to the Western Cape to allow for the situation to clear.
A hot-line for clients having booked at the Resort has been put up and they are asked to come in contact with Forever Resorts Central reservations at (012) 423 5607 or 423 5660. The telephone lines to the Plettenberg Resort are also out of commission. People wanting to e-mail any enquiries are requested to use the following e-mail: cro@foreversa.co.za.
