South Africa’s KwaZulu Natal & Seychelles Tourism meet in Durban ( The MEC responsible for KwaZulu Natal, Minister Michael Mabuyakhulu, who is responsible for Economic Development and Tourism, and Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, accompanied by Mr. Ndabo Khoza and Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt, their respective Tourism CEOs, met on the sideline of the South African Tourism Trade Fair INDABA.

This was not the first meeting between MEC Mabuyakhulu and Minister St.Ange who first met at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London over a year ago and then again in Seychelles and in South Africa for different working sessions.

This latest meeting in Durban was to establish avenues of cooperation between KwaZulu Natal and Seychelles. Also present were Mr. David Germain, the Seychelles Director for Africa and the Americas, and Ms. Marsha Parcou, the Seychelles General Manager Africa.

Points discussed included joint efforts for developing more cruise ship business that would take in the Port of Durban and the Seychelles as well as other regional ports, a possible Durban to Seychelles Yacht Race, KwaZulu Natal’s continued participation in the Indian Ocean Vanilla Island’s annual Carnaval International de Victoria which is staged in Seychelles during the last week end of April, and air access, among a series of other tourism-related matters of mutual interest.

Minister Mabuyakhulu personally led KwaZulu’s delegation to this year’s carnival in Seychelles when he visited the islands for a working visit.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister, said that Seychelles and South Africa enjoyed very friendly relations at all levels and that he wanted to ensure that the friendship continued to be strengthened.
