Institutional Investor Ranks The Shilla Seoul Among World’s Top 100 Hotels ( South Korea's premier luxury hotel, The Shilla Seoul, has been ranked among the ‘World's Best Hotels’ in the annual reader survey conducted by the prestigious international business magazine, Institutional Investor.

To celebrate the Institutional Investor ranking, a special package is on offer from December 1, 2007 to January 31, 2008 excluding Christmas and New Year holidays.

Priced at KRW 220,000 a night for one person in an Executive Deluxe suite, or KRW 250,000 for Executive Grand Deluxe, it includes complimentary breakfast, Happy Hour drinks and snacks, free Internet and meeting room for two hours, and a ‘Welcome Drink’ at The Library Bar and Lounge.

The celebratory package also includes a lucky draw with 54 prizes to be won, including a night in the hotel’s sumptuous Royal Suite, dinner for two at The Parkview restaurant, Paula Pryke flowers and cakes.

Reservations can only be made through The Shilla’s web site: and the rate is subject to service charge and VAT, with an additional KRW 30,000 charged for double occupancy.
The world’s top 100 hotels were nominated by Institutional Investor’s readership of chief executive officers and other senior executives from companies in the United States, Asia and Europe.

The Shilla was ranked 54th worldwide – and No.1 in Seoul.

This latest accolade follows an extensive two-year makeover creating a “lifestyle destination" at The Shilla with dramatically improved shopping, dining, health and beauty, wedding, conference and business facilities.

The hotel's refurbishment includes a new lobby, lounge and bar, conference centre and The Parkview, a new restaurant with open-air terrace, along with one of only two Guerlain Spas in Asia and the world renowned anti-ageing La Clinique de Paris.

Also restyled are the grand ballroom, meeting rooms, executive conference centre and all public areas — with a prestigious new shopping arcade now showcasing around 20 world-famous brand name boutiques, high profile Korean labels and famed London 'florist to the stars' Paula Pryke.

Luxurious lodging with state-of-the-art facilities, high-end technology and subtle, dedicated service has made The Shilla Seoul one of Asia's most admired hotels.

Featuring 465 rooms, Shilla Seoul is an affiliate of the Samsung Corporation and member of the prestigious The Leading Hotels of the World.

About Shilla Hotels&Resorts

Shilla, one of Asia’s most established and prestigious hotel groups, is an affiliate of Korean electronics giant, the Samsung Group, with two deluxe properties: The Shilla Seoul (465 rooms) and The Shilla Jeju (429 rooms) on the resort island of Jeju off Korea’s south coast.

The Shilla Seoul and The Shilla Jeju are both members of The Leading Hotels of the World having joined this prestigious organization in 1977 and in 2004 respectively.

In 2006, Shilla formed a strategic marketing alliance with India’s Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, one of Asia’s largest and finest hotel groups. The two prestigious brands plan to develop cross-promotional opportunities to harness each other’s strengths and dominance in their respective markets.

In July 2006, The Shilla for the first time exported its brand beyond South Korea with the management contract to operate the new 5-star The Shilla Suzhou in China. The brand new 308-room luxury hotel is a distinctive new landmark in Suzhou beside the picturesque Jinji Lake.

Since opening its doors in 1979 in the grounds of the Yeong Bin Gwan – the traditional Korean style former State Guest House which is now a unique banquet annex – The Shilla Seoul has been consistently voted South Korea’s top hotel by numerous influential business and finance publications including Institutional Investor, Euromoney, Asiamoney and the Global Finance.

It also repeatedly appears in polls conducted by the world’s leading lifestyle publications such as Conde Nast Traveler’s prestigious Gold List of the ‘World’s Best Places to Stay’ and in Travel&Leisure, which included The Shilla Seoul in its ‘500 World’s Best’ awards for 2006 – as ‘Best Hotel’ in South Korea and again named The Shilla Seoul one of the ‘World’s Best Business Hotels’ in 103 cities worldwide, in its November 2006 issue.
