Seychelles Soccer School with Manchester city proves a hit

Seychelles Soccer School with Manchester city proves a hit (Forimmediaterelease.net) Patrick Vieira, the legendary player and Manchester City Football Club (MCFC) Football Development Executive, today conducted the last clinics of the Manchester City Seychelles Soccer School 2013, deeming it a win for local sports.

The final day of clinics, which took place at Unity Stadium in Victoria, included 160 youngsters aged 13 to 16. Patrick and the City Youth coaches provided tips and guidance for the young Seychellois players.

A discussion was held at the Seychelles Football Auditorium after the clinics, during which Patrick took individual questions from the youngsters about his life as a professional football player.

Patrick said: “It was fantastic to get involved with many of the aspiring young players on the islands. We hope they have picked up some useful coaching tips and inspiration to go on to be the very best they can be.”

Air Seychelles and Etihad Airways hosted Patrick Vieira and the City coaches for the soccer schools, with support from the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF).

Cramer Ball, Air Seychelles Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are grateful to Patrick and his coach colleagues for their time here. The clinics have been a roaring success, and we have had wonderful feedback from the children and their families. These young Seychellois can truly ‘up their game,’ and they will have memories for a lifetime to boot.

“We are delighted to enrich the lives of our youth and Air Seychelles will continue looking at more grassroots events to support and develop our local community,” he added.

Elvis Chetty, Seychelles Football Federation Chairman, said: “It has been a joy to watch the children over the weekend. Patrick Vieira and MCFC have been fantastic. The clinics have been fun and instructive for the children. The clear winners have been the children and football. “

In a remarkable playing career spanning 18 years, Patrick Vieira won numerous domestic championships in both England and Italy, as well as the World Cup with France in 1998 and the European Championship two years later. He retired from the game in July 2011 to take on a wide ranging role with MCFC which includes work with the Academy, scouting, and community departments.
