JIA Shanghai Offers Winter Warmth
JIA Shanghai, the city’s first designer boutique hotel, celebrates the season with the launch of its ‘Winter Warmth’ package. Recently opened, the stylish residence is a hip new hotspot for those visiting the city for business or leisure.
Available from December 1, 2007 to February 29, 2008 the Winter Warmth package invites guest to explore Shanghai’s winter months with a warm and welcoming stay at JIA from RMB 1,895 for a studio and RMB 2,695 for a Suite. Rates are subject to tax and service charge.
In addition to the signature complimentary extras that guests enjoy on every stay at JIA – a welcome cocktail, continental breakfast, all-day soft drinks, afternoon cakes and evening wine in the Lobby - guests are also treated to a gift of a special winter ‘woven’ tea blend. Made with Jasmine flowers, the Chinese herbal tea blend is beneficial for warmth and good health. The tea leaves are woven into different shapes that explode with flavour when added to the teapot.
Located in the heart of the city on the corner of Nanjing Road and Tai Xing Road, JIA Shanghai is set within a stunning 1920’s building.
JIA Shanghai opened in August 2007, just three and a half years after the successful launch of JIA Hong Kong, the first Philippe Starck-designed boutique hotel in Asia, which is “home from home” for a fashionable, style-conscious crowd. JIA Hong Kong has been recognized with numerous awards from around the world, most recently voted by London’s Independent newspaper as one of the five best boutique hotels in Greater China and ‘Hong Kong’s Leading Boutique Hotel’ in the World Travel Awards for Asia, Australasia and the Indian Ocean. It’s restaurant OPIA has also received much acclaim.
Already making an impression in Shanghai, JIA Shanghai features 55 chic timber-walled and floored guestrooms and suites, some with private balconies, and a host of special facilities for discerning travellers including kitchen pods with microwave ovens, latest home-theatre entertainment and communications technology, and signature designer décor complimented by exquisite Chinese objects d’art and photographic artwork.
Three leading international designers contributed to the stylish interiors. The rooms and suites were designed by Melbourne-based BURO Architects in association with Hecker Phelan and Guthrie Interiors (HP&G). HP&G are responsible for award winning projects such as The Prince Boutique Hotel, Longrain and Comme in Melbourne, and Establishment in Sydney and, together with BURO, the iconic and awarded Botanical Hotel in Melbourne.
The Lobby of the hotel is designed with an eclectic mix of bespoke furniture by award-winning interior designer, André Fu of Hong Kong architectural firm AFSO. Fu is a protégé of renowned architect John Pawson and designer of the homes of several celebrities in Hong Kong, including Michelle Yeoh’s. He has been described by Condé Nast Traveler USA as an “Asian design sensation”, by Travel + Leisure, USA as the “Designer of the Moment” and by Wallpaper magazine as an “upcoming talent”.
Guests enter an atmosphere of ‘eclectic China’ in a lobby with haute heritage birdcages suspended from the ceiling. The spacious guestrooms averaging 45 sq. metres are designed as quietly theatrical, warm and sexy spaces for the modern, design-conscious traveller. Each room has been infused with a contemporary yet somehow familiar sense of place, acknowledging that not all travellers travel for business and not all travellers travel for pleasure.
The Lobby Lounge exclusively serves JIA residents complimentary continental breakfast, all day soft beverages, afternoon cakes and evening wine daily. In addition, an interesting menu of sensational cocktails, wines and champagnes is on offer from the Lobby bar from noon till midnight.
JIA Shanghai also features a Techno gym and a Business Centre with two offices and a boardroom with videoconferencing facilities as well as a signature Italian restaurant which will open in December 2007. There is complimentary broadband and wi-fi throughout the hotel.
The boutique residence was opened by 28 year-old Singaporean entrepreneur Yenn Wong in a joint venture with Hong Kong-based Indonesian businessman John Aryananda. Yenn Wong also founded Graze restaurant and Muse Bar at the city’s National Museum in Singapore.
