Seychelles Tourism Delegation  back home from “Successful” WTM Latin America exhibition in Sao Paolo, Brazil ( Accelerated growth of visitors for South America is expected in the near future, and the Seychelles tourism industry is optimistic that the South American Market can become one of its main markets due to the growing interest in our islands.

The Seychelles Tourism Board Chief Executive officer, Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt, together with David Germain the STB Director for Africa, and the Americas, led a small Seychelles tourism delegation at the WTM Latin America Exhibition in Sao Paolo, Brazil, last week.

The WTM Latin America Exhibition took place from April 23-25and attracted a total of 1,230 exhibitors from all over the world. World Travel Market Latin America, brings the world to Latin America and promotes Latin America to the world. To be staged annually in the economic powerhouse of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The Seychelles delegation returned home this week satisfied and very optimistic that visitor arrival from South America ( more specifically Brazil ) will grow in future at a faster pace than before.

“The Brazilian Travel Trade is confident that Seychelles can be the ‘new’ exotic destination for the Brazilian Traveler from this year onwards. The meetings went well with the local trade partners from Brazil and the region” says Mr. Germain. “The volume of long haul holiday tourists and first time visitors is increasing in Brazil and Seychelles has the potential to exploit its strength as a ‘choice’ holiday destination to the Brazilian market as all component are in place including our major airline partners, such as Qatar Airways, Emirates Airlines, SAA, Ethiopian Airlines and Etihad flying daily directly to Brazil from their hub with easy access to Seychelles,” he said.

A new development occurred during the event; the announcement of the code sharing agreement between Air Seychelles and South African Airways brought a lot of excitement and will surely provide an added boost to the travel industry’s confidence in Selling Seychelles. Seychelles is being offered in combination with Africa and the Middle East (twin-center packages) as an option to the discerning South American travelers.

During the exhibition, the Seychelles Tourism Board also announced the appointment of GVA – Global Vision access (a representation company) based in Sao Paolo, Brazil, as the official representation company for the STB in Brazil and South America. This appointment confirmed how serious Seychelles is about the South American market in having an established office in Sao Paolo.

Besides the STB Deputy CEO Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt and Ms. Myra Fanchette from Head Office Seychelles, other local partners and exhibitors in the WTM Latin America Exhibition were Mr. Eric Renard from Creole Travel Services, Mr. Eric Goblet from Mason’s Travel, Mrs. Daniella Payet Alis from Seychelles Connect, Ms. Doreen Bradburn, and Francessca Bonnelame from 7 Degrees South.

Gisele Abrahao, Managing Director of GVA, and her team provided all the relevant services in ensuring that the exhibition was a total successful for Seychelles.
