After arriving in the capital Sofia, travelers visit the medieval church of Bojana, which is part of the UNESCO cultural world heritage. In the National Museum of History they can marvel at the Thracian kings’ treasures of gold. Afterwards, their way leads to Villa Gella, where guests enjoy seasonal menus, fine wines and a panoramic view over the impressive Rhodope Mountains. A London based designer and a local architect jointly designed a discreet elegant atmosphere which is characterized by white walls, wooden floors, fireplaces and candlesticks. The owner family’s art collection create colorful accents in the six spacious rooms. Guests can explore the surrounding landscape with a mountain bike or by horse. Moreover, depending on season, travelers can collect and pick wild flowers, medical herbs or mushrooms. At the villa guests enjoy amenities such as an indoor pool, steam room as well as badminton or pétanque courts.

The mountainous landscape is coined by deep valleys and eye-catching rocks and caves, like the devil’s throat. The legend says that Orpheus once descended to the empire of Hades in order to search for his wife Eurydice. In the underground cave structure, visitors are confronted with a 40 meter long waterfall as well as a multitude of stalactite caves. On the fourth day guests travel to the century old archaeological complex Perperikon, which is a former Thracian rock town. Furthermore a visit to the cloister of Batschkowo, which is the second largest cloister of Bulgaria, is included in the itinerary. Activities such as hiking, horse riding, cycling or swimming provide entertainment for everyone. In the course of private wine tasting lesson, visitors learn to love the local wines accompanied by the pleasant sounds of Bulgarian folklore. Further highlights are a visit to the cities Zlatograd and its craft quarter from the 19th century and Plovdiv. The city’s founder is no one less than Philopolis, son of Alexander the Great. The second largest city of Bulgaria offers plenty of sights including an amphitheater, churches and picturesque historical buildings that only wait for travelers to be discovered.
