La Reunion Island continues to receive press review as co-host of the Indian Ocean Vanilla islands alongside Seychelles and Madagascar

La Reunion Island continues to receive press review as co-host of the Indian Ocean Vanilla islands alongside Seychelles and Madagascar (Forimmediaterelease.net) The Indian Ocean Tourism Destination of La Reunion has been receiving unprecedented media review since co-hosting the annual Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands carnival alongside the Seychelles and Madagascar.

It was readers in Hong Kong who last week got to see the last Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands carnival that is staged annually in Seychelles. Several glossy magazines took up the carnival review by the known and very respected journalist, Mr. Mario Rosario.

Mr. Rosario is also the Publisher of popular and well-read Sports and Travel Magazine of Asia, and his article of the last carnival leads the latest issue of his own magazine. The carnival has been instrumental in getting the Indian Ocean Islands on the tourism map in new tourism markets and has been helping these islands to diversify their tourism industry base.

La Reunion Island has been associated with the Vanilla Islands carnival for the last three years, and they have been co-host of the carnival for two years running.
When questioned in Hong Kong about the part played by La Reunion Island in the carnival that is staged annually in Seychelles, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture from the Seychelles, Mr. Alain St.Ange, said that unity between the islands of the Indian Ocean remains important if they are to become a real tourism destination. “La Reunion has understood unity and togetherness in the Indian Ocean Islands, and plays their part in an event aimed at opening up the Indian Ocean Islands’ visibility as the new tourism destination. We are committed to make the region, and in so doing make Africa more relevant as a tourism region, bearing in mind that our region received but a minimal percentage of tourism traffic on the world scale. It is only in unity and togetherness that this will be changed, and it is only by working together at elevant regional events can we claim our real place in the world of tourism,” Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles said.

President Didier Robert of La Reunion Island personally holds the tourism portfolio, and he was behind the decision to make La Reunion a co-host of the annual Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands carnival. This enables the Tourism La Reunion (IRT) to address the carnival press conference alongside the Seychelles and this gives them access to over a hundred media, TV, radio, and tabloids to put forward their island’s unique selling points, their people, and their culture. The latest coverage of La Reunion Island shows how important and effective a meeting with such a big group of international press works for the region and destinations to keep them relevant as tourism destinations.
