Ambassador of Kingdom of Morocco to Seychelles impressed by continued drive by Seychelles in the field of tourism and culture (Forimmediaterelease.net) The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Amar has described his courtesy call on Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, as open and cordial, and he said that this is set to pave the way for new areas of cooperation between the Seychelles Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Kingdom of Morocco.

“Tourism and Culture are strategic portfolios in Morocco. His Majesty the King of Morocco is always trying hard to come out with innovative ideas to spin these two key sectors of our economy. Morocco records 10 million visitor arrivals annually. We are projecting 15 million annually for 2015 and 20 million in 2020. Our strategy is to continuously diversify our market. The Kingdom of Morocco has set up a tourism division that looks at what is happening overseas in terms of new emerging markets. We are now tapping into the Asian and Canadian markets which are bringing immense benefits to the country’s booming economy,” said Ambassador Mohamed Amar.

In terms of cultural areas, Ambassador Mohamed Amar said that Morocco has built its reputation on the Kingdoms’ sacred music festivals.

“The success of these festivals is amazing. Each city in Morocco has its own festival which is contributing immensely to the country’s economy. The diversity of our people and their blends of cultures have positioned Morocco as a rapidly-evolving Kingdom with an aura of wealth and prosperity,” said the Morocco Ambassador.

The Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, on his part outlined his Ministry’s vision to open up a new spectrum of cooperation between the Seychelles Tourism Academy and Morocco’s hospitality industry.

“Seychelles is a beneficiary of bursaries from the Kingdom of Morocco. We need to ensure that we take up these bursaries and ensure it benefits our people and our country. We need to explore new grounds and see where the tourism industry can benefit from it. The Seychelles Tourism Academy can use some of the bursaries offered by the Kingdom of Morocco for the training of its lecturers and students. The Kingdom of Morocco has excellent hotels and resorts of internationally-recognized standard. Students from the Seychelles Tourism Academy can follow up their training program in these properties. Exchange programs can also be developed between the Seychelles Tourism Academy and Hospitality institutions in Morocco for students and for lecturers.”

Morocco’s tourism trade fair, “Pure,” has gained recognition from international partners and its success keeps fascinating the world. Until now Seychelles has not officially made its presence count in this trade fair as it remains one of the expensive fairs, but many of Seychelles’ private sector representatives have been to the trade fair and have been happy with it. The Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, has expressed Seychelles’ interest to be represented in the Morocco’s future trade fair as it represents a golden opportunity for the Seychelles Tourism Board and its local trade partners to sell the country as a tourism destination.

Morocco’s successes with the restoration and with the preservation of its historical sites were also points that were of interest for Seychelles. Minister Alain St.Ange said that the Seychelles’ heritage section could learn a lot from Morocco in this specific field and that it was hoped that Morocco could share it’s expertise with Seychelles which is in the process of mounting its nomination dossier for UNESCO’s recognition of its own Slave Ruins at Mission Lodge as a world heritage and natural site. Ambassador Mohamed Amar has extended an invitation to Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture to lead a delegation to Morocco on an official visit to further explore the areas where the Kingdom of Morocco can help Seychelles.
