Seychelles first Musicians’ Walk of Fame in the making

Seychelles first Musicians’ Walk of Fame in the making (Forimmediaterelease.net) Seychelles is to get its own Musicians’ Walk of Fame said Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, as he accepted pictures from artists on Friday, March 15, 2013, in his offices at the National Cultural Center in Victoria.

When it comes to giving the Seychellois artists and musicians their rightful recognition, Seychelles has made some remarkable progress in this area yet it lacked a dedicated area to give them their due recognition. The new Musician's Walk of Fame will now recognize musicians past and present in a place they can proudly say is their collection. “Our islands’ famous stars and those who have marked the development of music in our country will be proudly displayed for all to see, and this Musician's Walk of Fame is here to stay," Minister St.Ange said.

The four artists who came personally to present a picture of themselves performing all agreed that the Ministry of Tourism and Culture had come out with this most innovative project to recognize their profession. “The Seychelles first Musicians’ Walk of Fame will honor the island artists and musicians who have risen to fame, and who have given the island archipelago some of our memorable musical moments. The Walk of Fame will be dedicated to the industry’s greatest performers," Minister Alain St.Ange said.

A prime spot of the National Culture Centre has now been demarcated and will become the walkway of photos for these artists and musicians. The Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture said that the Musicians’ Walk of Fame is a way for the Ministry to show its recognition for these artists, from those called the silent stars of yesterday to the modern heroes of today.

“It is the responsibility of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to say thank you to the Seychellois artists that have shaped the cultural field. There is no better way to show our gratitude and our appreciation of their work than giving them their own Walk of Fame,” said Minister Alain St.Ange.

Joe Samy, Joennise Juliette, Dereck Savy, and Michel Marengo were the very first singers to come out officially to present their photos for the Musicians’ Walk of Fame to Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange. Many other pictures have been forwarded to the Department of Culture and these include Seychelles’ famous celebrities such as Night Birds, Cliff&the Night Shades, Spider band, The Cheveron, Mickey&The Buccaneers, Raymond du Buisson, France Lagrenade, and many others.

Minister Alain St.Ange had appealed to the community of Seychellois artists and musicians to donate their photos to the Musicians’ Walk of Fame and ensure that all the best from the country sits among the well-known icons of the country.
