Tourism meeting in Seychelles to discuss localization plan for Seychellois returning hospitality management graduates

Tourism meeting in Seychelles to discuss localization plan for Seychellois returning hospitality management graduates ( The Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, will be meeting with general managers of hotels and their human resource representatives to discuss a localization program for returning hospitality management graduates and the scheme of service for these young Seychellois.

In line with announcements made by the Ministry of Labor and Human Resource Development to establish a localization plan for Seychelles, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, the Seychelles Tourism Board, and the Seychelles Tourism Academy feel that the arrival in the country of the first batch of returning hospitality management graduates from Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland is an important time to meet with the tourism trade partners to discuss the future of their young graduates in the country's hospitality industry.

“We need to send out a strong message to trade partners that the graduates should be encouraged to follow their chosen career path. A good salary package and a positive working environment is conducive to staff morale and will help motivate our young graduates to remain in Seychelles and to work for our tourism industry. The country has invested a lot to get our young Seychellois to be better prepared to join our industry. We also know that the consolidation of the Seychelles tourism industry is in ensuring that our 'couleur locale' remains the driving force of our industry. The Ministry of Tourism and its Seychelles Tourism Board will continue to be as supportive of the needs and requirements of the industry at large, but we need the industry to work with us to ensure our trained, and our capable Seychellois professionals are given real opportunities to grow in our industry," said Minister St.Ange.

The meeting will start with the election of a committee to work with the Ministry to draft a two-year working plan for the graduates. “It is this plan that will ensure that the country's returning graduates in the field of hospitality are followed to ensure that they receive the necessary encouragement. We are proud of their achievements, we are all proud to see one of our graduates excel to be counted as the best in the 2013 leavers at Shannon College in Ireland, we now need to bring them on board and ensure they stay in the industry we have had them trained to join,” the Minister said. The meeting will be the opportunity to introduce some of the returning graduates from Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland.

The meeting will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Le Meridien Barbarons Conference Room at 1315 hours.
