ITB Berlin is booked up

ITB Berlin is booked up (Forimmediaterelease.net) The 47th edition of the world’s largest travel trade show is fully booked up, with every available space taken inside the 26 halls on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Speaking at the opening press conference, Dr. Christian Goke, COO Messe Berlin, emphasized that there had never been so many two-tier stands. In order to meet their extra space requirements many exhibitors have built multiple floors. There are 120 exhibitors alone representing Indonesia, this year’s partner country of ITB Berlin.

A total of 10,068 companies from 180 countries are exhibiting on a display area covering 160,000 square meters. South Sudan, an independent state since 2011, is a newcomer to ITB Berlin.

One important innovation was the subject of much debate prior to the show: for the first time members of the general public can book their tours directly with exhibitors on the weekend of the show. Dr. Christian Goke was keen to stress that “this is an experiment. We will conduct a thorough evaluation of our experiences after ITB Berlin and then decide how to proceed.”

A matchmaking event for bloggers is also celebrating its debut this year. On March 7 and 8 this event gives 100 exhibitors an opportunity to meet the same number of international bloggers. 250 bloggers from Germany and abroad have registered at ITB Berlin.
