Local Residents Dreaming of a White Christmas Find a Winter Wonderland at Ala Moana Center

Local Residents Dreaming of a White Christmas Find a Winter Wonderland at Ala Moana Center ( Ala Moana Center captures the magic of the holiday season for local shoppers

It may be 80 degrees outside but this year you and your family can still experience a white Christmas at Ala Moana Center. The magic begins November 23, when Ala Moana Center’s popular “The Christmas Gift of Aloha” holiday experience returns, offering shoppers a one-of-a-kind winter wonderland at the state’s largest mall.

The popular “The Christmas Gift of Aloha” features the returning stage show and parade, which brings to life Lisa Matsumoto’s children’s storybook of the same name. The 30-minute stage show follows the adventures of Merry, one of Santa’s elves, who falls from the sleigh and gets lost in Hawaii. At the conclusion of every extraordinary performance, a simulated “snowfall” flutters down upon Ala Moana’s Centerstage.

Also be sure to stick around following the show as Santa and the entire “The Christmas Gift of Aloha” cast ride through Ala Moana Center in Hawaii’s only holiday mall parade.

And of course the holidays wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Santa at Ala Moana Center’s Menehune Toy Shop – which arrives November 10 — with animatronic elves and a real waterfall. Another feature of “The Christmas Gift of Aloha,” the Candy Cane Train, is brought to life as it carries its riders on a holiday journey around the Mall Level.

With close to 9,000 parking stalls, simple valet parking, helpful concierges and extended holiday hours, you and your family can celebrate the holidays with an unforgettable day of shopping and entertainment at Ala Moana Center.

Ala Moana Center’s lineup of festive holiday events include:

Here Comes Santa Claus
He’s been checking his list all year long, and on November 10, Santa arrives at Ala Moana Center to tell local children just how nice they’ve been. Santa’s Menehune Toy Shop is presented by Gymboree and opens at 10 a.m. daily from November 10 through December 24 at Ala Moana Center’s Street Level across from Centerstage. The Menehune Toy Shop features animatronic elves, Hawaiian toys and gifts as well as a real waterfall that keeps kids entertained as they wait for their chance to meet the jolly man himself. Photos with Santa start at $15.99.

Choo! Choo!
This year Ala Moana Center’s Candy Cane Train rolls into town starting Saturday, November 10. Inspired by “The Christmas Gift of Aloha” storybook, the 30-foot long train will carry keiki on a fun-filled, sing-along journey through Ala Moana Center. The Candy Cane Train opens at 10 a.m. daily on Ala Moana Center’s Mall Level near Center Court. The ride is open to children ages 12 and under who are able to sit independently. Don’t miss the Candy Cane Train as it makes regular runs November 10 & 11, November 17 & 18, and November 23 through December 28. Rides cost $7 per child.

A Hawaiian Holiday Experience
It’s a winter wonderland at Ala Moana Center’s Centerstage as “The Christmas Gift of Aloha” returns for another year spreading the holiday spirit to local families and shoppers. The enchanting, 30-minute live musical performance is based on the children’s book by the same name and features the Na Hoku Hanohano Award-nominated soundtrack, with a simulated snowfall following the conclusion of every performance. After the program, stick around and watch Santa, as well as members from the show, ride through the center in a parade. “The Christmas Gift of Aloha” will run from November 23 through December 23 (except on Mondays) and starts at 6 p.m. daily.
