Seychelles tourism delegation in South Africa was one singled out at official opening of TAFI 2013 (Forimmediaterelease.net) The Seychelles tourism delegation led by their Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Alain St.Ange, are in Durban in South Africa to attend TAFI 2013 (Travel Agents Federation of India) General Assembly at the invitation of the Hon. Michael Mabuyakhulu, the KwaZulu Natal Minister responsible for Economic Development and Tourism. Minister St.Ange is being accompanied by Elsia Grandcourt, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and Benjamine Rose, the PS for Culture in the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

In his opening address, Minister Marthinus Van Schalkwyk MP, the Minister of Tourism of South Africa, spoke about the beauty of the Seychelles when he welcomed the island’s Minister to South Africa. Minister Van Schalkwyk said in his remarks to over a thousand travel agents and tour operators from India and the large press contingent gathered for the official opening of TAFI 2013 that the islands of the Seychelles stood out as tourism island destinations as he encouraged everyone present at the ICC Durban Conference Center to visit Seychelles.

Minister Alain St.Ange and his delegation held several one-to-one meetings with the different groups and businesses represented as well as bilateral talks with his South Africa counterparts and Minister Mduduzi Small Joe Dlamini from the Kingdom of Swaziland, with cooperation in Africa in the field of tourism, the Seychelles bid for the UNWTO Executive Committee, and the annual April Carnival in the Seychelles, among others.

“The meeting was a rare occasion to have so many travel agents from India in one room and to have the opportunity to promote Seychelles as a tourism destination in its own right especially after having had the South African Minister confirm the outstanding beauty of our islands,” the Seychelles Minister to the gathered press after the official opening ceremony.
