British Minister to visit Seychelles

British Minister to visit Seychelles ( The Seychelles Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the pleasure of announcing the visit of Mr. Alastair Burt, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs for the United Kingdom, to Seychelles.

The British Minister, also a Member of Parliament for Northeast Bedfordshire, is expected to arrive in Seychelles for a one-day working visit today on February 25, during which time he will be calling on President James Michel and attending the official opening of the Regional Anti-Piracy Prosecution and Intelligence Coordination Centre (RAPPICC), a joint initiative between the UK and Seychelles.

“Following President Michel's attendance of the Somalia piracy conference in the UK last year and the operational MOU he signed with Prime Minister David Cameron, our two governments have been working closely to turn RAPPICC into a reality. It is a great honor for us to welcome Minister Burt to the realization of this project, and it is especially fitting that it should take place exactly a year after the President's visit," said the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jean-Paul Adam.

During his visit Minister Burt is also expected to undertake a visit to the SPDF air wing and meet with local ministers and officials to discuss the anti-piracy work being undertaken.
