The French Ambassador to Seychelles expressed her appreciation that the GM of La Francophonie, Mr. Clement Duhaime, was personally in Seychelles. “This will help to reinforce the presence of the International Organization of La Francophonie in its member states,” said Ambassador Lancu.

After the discussions, the French Ambassador to Seychelles tabled two main areas of cooperation where the International Organization of La Francophonie can give its support to Seychelles. These are the availability of multimedia support to further boost the promotion of the French language on radio and television, and more training for future teachers at the Seychelles University of Seychelles.

The Seychelles Tourism and Culture Minister, Mr Alain St.Ange, and Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Jean-Paul Adam, also used the breakfast meeting to table several propositions for discussions. These included discussions that touched on the annual Festival Kreol in Victoria, the capital of the world of Creoles; a mobile library service to serve the country’s prisons and also communities; training of more professional translators for French language documents to alleviate the existing shortage; etc.

On his part the General Manager of the International Organization of La Francophonie, Mr. Clement Duhaime, said, “The International Organization of La Francophonie will rally its forces together to discuss the points raised in order to see how best to assist Seychelles, the first country to sign the Pact Linguistic and one committed with the promotion of its three official languages which includes the French language.”

Mr. Duhaime of the International Organization of La Francophonie was accompanied on his working visit by Mr. Eric Weber.
