Latin Trails’ Galapagos Grand Odyssey goes into dry dock

Latin Trails’ Galapagos Grand Odyssey goes into dry dock ( Latin Trails has been delivering the finest nature expeditions to the enchanted Galapagos isles for groups and individuals, including a tour aboard the luxurious M/Y Grand Odyssey yacht. This beauty made her debut in February of 2011, and has earned herself a huge amount of well-deserved pampering.

Latin Trails’ Galapagos Grand Odyssey will be entering dry dock this month and will be out for refurbishing between February 17-March 21. This exclusive yacht combines privacy and comfort tours in the marvelous setting of the Galapagos Islands. M/Y Grand Odyssey has a capacity for 16 passengers, and features 7 spacious suites (25m2 in average) and 1 Master Suite (35m2) equipped with panoramic windows to enjoy the marvelous landscapes of the islands, private bathroom, hot/cold water, air conditioning with independent controls, mini bar, and TV. The yacht is equipped with twin beds or one faux queen bed and connected suites for families.

To keep this wonderful yacht up to its own standards for future guests, Latin Trails will ensure that during the dry dock period, all furniture covers, linens, towels, faucets, shower heads, and any equipment that has served its time will be replaced. Also planned is the implementation of new soap and shampoo dispensers with organic products from the Amazon, thereby promoting local products and giving sustainability to the rainforest communities of Ecuador; of course these products have been tested to ensure they are up to the standards that Latin Trails demands.

All woodwork and flooring will be restored by being sanded down and applying new lacquer, along with all areas of the boat, both inside and outside, being repainted. Hull work will be performed, which involves sand blasting (a process that removes all the old paint on the hull, as well as barnacles and sediments, and leaves the hull bare) the entire exterior, and replacing any steel panels that have imperfections or that have suffered any damage. Once the new panels have been installed, the entire hull will be evened out and repainted, and magnetic zinc will be added to the exterior area to protect and lengthen the life of the body work.

Engines and generators will be overhauled and tweaked so that they are in mint order and ready to offer another 96 weeks of non-stop departures. Air conditioning units will be overhauled and replaced, and new stoves and refrigerators will be installed in the kitchen, as well as new cutlery, dishware, glassware, coffeemakers, and all the necessary implements to maintain a high culinary standard. Other work will include piping and electric circuitry, water purifiers, and storage areas.

During this entire process, the crew of the Galapagos Grand Odyssey will be present to help in the performance of these tasks on a day-to-day basis, and they will also participate in training courses in such areas as the bakery, cuisine, bartending, cabin work, service, and safety and emergency procedures. It is Latin Trails’ intention to not only maintain the Galapagos Grand Odyssey as the top yacht in the Galapagos, but to go beyond and leave her in even better condition than those of her maiden departure 2 years ago.

All this is being done so that Latin Trails may assure the delivery of high-standard services to accommodate even the most demanding guests on board. Delivering first-class experiences is what Latin Trails does best.
