Seychelles welcomes possibility to receive annually a Chinese cultural group ( The Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Alain St.Ange, has announced that Seychelles will annually play host to a professional group of Chinese cultural performers.

Minister Alain St.Ange made this announcement during China’s renowned Tianjin Performing Art Troupe cultural show at the International Conference Centre on Friday, February 15.

The Minister said that in the endeavor to continue to widen the scope of cooperation between Seychelles and China “every year a new cultural group from China will come to Seychelles to perform as part of the cultural exchanges between Seychelles and China.”

The Chinese Tianjin Performing Art Troupe wowed the Seychellois public at the International Conference Center with a vibrant first class professional cultural show. The Troupe was composed of three groups: the Tianjin Opera and Ballet Theatre Tianjin Acrobatic Troupe, the Huojanjia Culture, and the Wushu School.

The Seychellois public experienced a breathtaking performance with a combination of martial arts Chinese Kung Fu, acrobats, opera, and magic performed by the a thirty–three member delegation from Tianjin Performing Art Troupe.

The Tianjin Performing Art Troupe came out with flying colors attracting a full house on both night they performed in Seychelles.

Minister Alain St.Ange said in his opening speech at the first performance of the cultural show that he was discussing with the Chinese ambassador to Seychelles to mark a China Day in Seychelles effective 2014. “As we are this year celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first landing of Chinese settlers, it is a perfect opportunity to make this announcement. Seychelles will welcome a Chinese festival showcasing Seychelles ties with mainland China as its annual China Day,” Minister St.Ange said.

On his part the Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles said that these cultural exchanges help the Seychellois people to know more about China and its culture.

“It will enhance the mutual understanding between our two people and further boost the existing good relations between the two countries. China is determined to be a reliable friend and sincere partner to Seychelles and other African countries,” said Ambassador Shi Zhongjun.

Tianjin Performing Art Troupe staged two performances in Seychelles. Both shows were free of charge for the public.
