Tianjin Art Troupe displays colorful Chinese culture in Seychelles (Forimmediaterelease.net) The Seychelles International Conference Centre (ICCS) was full to capacity last weekend as large crowds of Chinese nationals and Seychellois came to enjoy a variety of performances from the Tianjin Art Troupe from China.

Those in the audience included the Seychelles Designated Minister, Mr. Vincent Meriton; the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Alain St.Ange; the Minister for Labor and Human Resource Development, Ms. Idith Alexander; members of the diplomatic corps; and senior government officials.

Addressing the audience prior to the performances, Chinese ambassador Shi Zhongjun said these cultural exchanges will help the Seychellois people to know more about China and its culture.

“It will enhance the mutual understanding between our two peoples, thus further promote the existing good relations between the two countries,” he said. China is determined to be a reliable friend and sincere partner to Seychelles and other African countries, he added.

Minister St.Ange on his part said when he addressed those gathered in the ICCS Conference Centre that he can confirm that people living in Seychelles will get the chance every year to enjoy a different cultural group and to appreciate the Chinese culture through such performances.

He added that his ministry will work with the Chinese embassy to ensure that a China day is celebrated in Seychelles annually at the same time as the Chinese Cultural Group is in Seychelles.

The performances kicked off with a Kongfu show by the Tianjin Huoyuanjia Kongfu school. Apart from several Kongfu demonstrations, the audience was enthralled by the modern folk music and acrobatic moves of the performers.
One of the most appreciated performances was the magic show entitled “Flowers are in Bloom” by Yang Xiaolei. Young performer Zhen Ying impressed her audience while she did a mat spin using various acrobatic moves, while her colleague, Han Zhiqiang, amazed his spectators by balancing a jar on his head.

The selection of photos show some highlights of the performances.
