South Africa showcases their culture and people at carnival in Seychelles

South Africa showcases their culture and people at carnival in Seychelles ( Some countries never miss an opportunity to showcase to the world their people and their culture. This was the case by South Africa last week when they moved two delegations coming from Cape Town and KwaZulu Natal to the carnival in Seychelles.

South Africa had HE Minister Michael Mabuyakhulu, Minister for Economic Development and Tourism from KwaZulu Natal, lead their delegation to Seychelles. The Minister was accompanied on his working visit to Seychelles by Sadha Naidoo and Ndabo Khoz, the Board Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism, KwaZulu Natal.

South Africa has been advocating itself as the Rainbow Nation, and there was no better opportunity than a carnival staged under the banner of the “melting pot of cultures” for them to showcase their culture and their people. South Africa is known as a country with a very rich and diverse culture. They remain leaders in the field of tourism, and South Africa is known to be a success story for tourism in Africa. Visibility for South Africa remains important and they miss no opportunity to move to showcase their country as a serious tourism destination. Through the carnival in Seychelles they are given the unique opportunity to use their culture and their people to bring visibility for their country.

The large number of international press invited to Seychelles to cover the carnival remains a great opportunity for any country serious about their tourism industry. Visibility for tourism destinations is key to the consolidation of their tourism industry, and many destinations who are present at tourism trade fairs across the globe know how difficult it is to get press coverage, and they all know that press conferences at these costly tourism trade fairs gather but a few press only because every other destination are trying to do exactly the same thing to promote their respective country.

At the carnival in Seychelles it is now clear that the number of international press is a clear attraction for countries to send cultural groups to be part of that unique carnival. Countries invited to co-host the carnival have the added advantage to address the press conference and screen a short promotional DVD.
