Seychelles Tourism Minister receives Greece Ambassador to discuss renewed cooperation

Seychelles Tourism Minister receives Greece Ambassador to discuss renewed cooperation ( The newly-accredited Greece Ambassador to Seychelles, Mr. Eleftherios Kouvaritakis, has used his meeting with Mr. Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, to pledge his support for cooperating in the field of tourism and culture.

Mr. Eleftherios said that tourism “is a domain that Greece excelled” and Seychelles “could count on his country’s support to help boost the industry.”

Mr. Eleftherios was speaking during a courtesy call on the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Alain St.Ange.

Minister Alain St.Ange, who had met with the Greece Minister responsible for Tourism at the WTM Tourism Trade Fair in London only last November, commended Greece on its tourism industry saying that it remains “crucial to the country’s ailing economy.”

Minister St.Ange said that “Seychelles Tourism Academy wishes to explore avenues of hospitality training with Greece and vice versa.”

The twin-hulled Pegasus Garden of Eden cruise within Seychelles’ inner islands was also a point discussed. Minister St.Ange said that “it’s a well-conceived product for the Seychelles tourism industry, because it helps open up our islands. Seychelles prides itself on the diversity of its islands and its people as one of its unique selling points.”

The Carnaval International de Victoria was another issue raised by Minister St.Ange during the discussions with the Greek Ambassador. “Greece is one of the countries with a rich history and with a rich culture. The Carnaval International de Victoria is one event that Greece can showcase its reputation as the cradle of civilization,” Minister St.Ange said. The question of a museum to mark the period Archbishop Makarios was detained in Seychelles was also discussed, and the Ambassador said he would be taking this request further.
