Seychelles thanked for carnival 2013 by Chinese delegation (Forimmediaterelease.net) The twenty-strong Chinese delegation who participated in the 2013 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria called on the Seychelles Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt, at the Seychelles Tourism Board Headquarters, Bel Ombre.

The aim of the visit was to offer their gratitude to the Seychelles Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Seychelles Tourism Board, and the Seychelles government for staging with their co-hosts the unique carnival where the world meets to showcase their respective culture and people.

The delegation was made up of representatives from the Zhejiang province, accompanied by the Sino Seychelles Friendship and Cultural group, the Jinhua daily newspaper, and the Taichi-Wushu Martial Arts group which remains one of the best group of the dragon dance from China. These delegations were in Seychelles to take part in the annual Carnaval International de Victoria.

In a short ceremony Mrs. Grandcourt was presented with two paintings of the traditional flower of China, a portrait of the WU Opera and one of the big drum that was used in the 2013 Carnaval International de Victoria. In a short address the delegation congratulated the Seychelles Tourism Board for offering to the Community of Nations the great opportunity to be present and to take part in the Carnaval International de Victoria. The delegation went on to describe Seychelles as an extraordinary country with its great natural beauty.

On her part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt, acknowledged the good working relationship between Seychelles and China. Last year Seychelles marked the150-year anniversary of Chinese settlers landing in Seychelles.

The Chinese delegation has reiterated their interest and willingness to participate at next year’s carnival, and this was welcomed by the Seychelles Tourism Board.

The meeting was also the opportunity the Seychelles Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer to present to the Chinese delegation a copy of the limited edition book marking the first edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria.
