Seychelles and La Reunion island formalize working partnership

Seychelles and La Reunion island formalize working partnership (Forimmediaterelease.net) Seychelles and the island of La Reunion, represented by Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and Mr. Didier Robert, the President of the Region Reunion, signed an MOU to formalize the existing working partnership and cooperation agreements in place between the two islands that are part of the Vanilla Islands Regional Organization.

Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles and President Didier Robert of La Reunion both said after the signature that the existing friendship between the two countries would be enhanced with the signature of their MOU. The French island of La Reunion has been one of the co-hosts for the Carnaval International de Victoria that is staged in Seychelles annually to bring more visibility for the Indian Ocean region and to also bring to the forefront the combination potential with mainland Africa.

La Reunion continues to benefit from direct access to the large bank of international press covering that annual carnival in return for their support and commitment to Seychelles for staging the unique “carnival of carnivals” in the Indian Ocean region.

The signature of the MOU will also pave the way for more cultural exchanges between La Reunion and Seychelles, continued partnership in the field of training for tourism and hospitality students, etc.

The Seychelles Minister, Mr. St.Ange, said that the signature of the MOU remains the formalization of an existing working partnership. “Cooperation between countries are the direct result of understanding and respect between government officials and the way that these officials get on with each other. As for La Reunion, we have the perfect situation where Seychelles President James Michel and President Didier Robert understand each other, and they have developed a personal friendship. President Didier Robert and myself are also good friends, and we can now but build on the friendship for the benefit of our people," said Minister St.Ange to the press.
