Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture appears in first ever dedicated carnival feature on Seychelles television

Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture appears in first ever dedicated carnival feature on Seychelles television ( The Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation will be airing a carnival TV feature highlighting the successes of the first and second editions of the carnival and picking up the strong moments that made the undisputable force of the now annual Carnaval International de Victoria.

The carnival feature, hosted by Producer and Content Development Director of Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation, Raymond Clarisse, brings in the limelight key personalities behind the organization of the Carnaval International de Victoria.

Breaking away from the traditional carnival televised talk show, which was staged at “Le Rendezvous Restaurant” with the back drop of the clock tower, the Seychelles replica of the Big Ben, this year the carnival feature was recorded at the Seychelles Broadcasting studio at Hermitage, and it starts with a short introduction by the popular host, Raymond Clarisse, setging the tone for the upcoming annual Carnaval International de Victoria which is planned for February 8-10. Mr. Clarisse then invited on stage the Chief Executive Officer of Seychelles Tourism Board, Elsia Grandcourt, to explain the final touches being worked on before the carnival's official opening ceremony this coming Friday.

A short feature film capturing the strong moments of the first and second editions of Carnaval International de Victoria taken at the international airport during the arrival of the largest cohort of international delegations for the third edition of the carnival, brings the television feature to its third part where the winner of the 2013 carnival song, Ion Kid, is put to task by giving an overview of his winning song and his participation in the “international musical show” at Freedom Square on February 9 after the carnival parade.

The carnival television feature then proceeds with an interview with Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture who takes time to spell out the importance for Seychelles to host the annual “Carnaval International de Victoria. Minister St.Ange explains that for the first time ever, the carnival will see the participation of 4 out of the 6 Vanilla Islands joining together to make the region more visible. This year it must be noted that Seychelles, La Reunion, Madagascar, Mauritius, and representatives from Rodrigues have come together to represent the Indian Ocean region.

Minister Alain St.Ange explained that the Carnaval International de Victoria remains a Vanilla Islands event, and continues to remain a platform to boost the region as a tourism destination in its own right, and also to continue to keep Seychelles visible to ensure that its tourism industry moves from strength to strength. The Chief Executive Officer of the National Arts Council, Jimmy Savy, who is chairing the carnival artistic and production team of the third edition of Carnaval International de Victoria, closes the TV feature with a breakdown of the logistics being put together for the smooth running of the carnival’s 3-day program. The pre-recorded carnival feature will be aired on Thursday, February 7 at 9:00 pm on SBC television.
