The ANS is the local chapter of Arterial Network International, an international volunteer-run organization that supports artists and the development of the creative arts in Africa. The ANS aims and objects were introduced to Minister St.Ange and his special advisor, Ms. Onezime by the ANS Chairman, Mr. George Camille, accompanied by two committee members, Mrs. Lalita Mayadas and Mrs. Mia Dunford.

The Minister was pleased to note the plans and activities of ANS and emphasized that his Ministry would be glad to support them as he could see clear synergy to be gained due to many shared objectives. Specific subjects of collaboration discussed included a National Arts Gallery, collaboration with the National Arts Council and LUNGOS, drafting of a Visual Arts Policy, possible Seychelles participation in the Venice Biennale in 2013, and training courses for artists, among others.

While the Seychelles chapter of the Arterial Network is relatively young, having only been launched in December 2011, some useful achievements have already been recorded. An ANS member had also attended a ‘Train the Trainer’ course in Nairobi, with the intention to offering training courses and innovative support systems for local artists, which would in turn lift the level of tourism and cultural experiences available for visitors and residents alike.

Minister Alain St.Ange welcomed the ANS initiative and reiterated his Ministry’s willingness to promote and support the efforts of the Arterial Network Seychelles, to enrich the creative arts of Seychelles.
