Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture and the Chief Executive of the Tourism Board open the carnival radio campaign on 1368

Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture and the Chief Executive of the Tourism Board open the carnival radio campaign on 1368 (Forimmediaterelease.net) Seychelles has launched its media campaign for Carnaval International de Victoria. It was the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange, and the Chief Executive of Seychelles Tourism Board who were the invited guests for a live talk show on the Seychelles Broadcasting Cooperation radio station 1368. Hosted by popular Presenter Lindy Servina, Minister Alain St.Ange and Elsia Grandcourt were interviewed live in a 45-minute show entirely on the coming third edition of Carnaval International de Victoria.

The “Lanbyans Labrin” show airs between 1600 to 1800 hours on the 1368 radio frequency and is a popular show listened to by a large segment of the population. Minister St.Ange and the Chief Executive of Seychelles Tourism Board explained for this edition “They have taken into account suggestions and comments made by the general public on the hosting of the previous Carnaval International de Victoria,” adding that the public will see slight changes to the carnival’s three-day program.

Both Mrs. Grandcourt and the Minister highlighted the colorful decorations dressing up Victoria in preparation for the carnival on February 8-10 and new entertainment that will keep Victoria alive after the carnival’s procession on February 9.

The re-positioning of members of the juries to have a better view of the winning floats is another new element of this year’s carnival. The Minister for Tourism and Culture and the Chief Executive of Seychelles Tourism Board said that “instead of being positioned in front of the National Cultural Centre building close to the VIPs, members of the jury will be seated close to the Clock Tower to ensure that they are in a better seated position to judge the carnival floats.”

In regards to the official opening of the Carnaval International de Victoria, it’s been announced that the stage will be re-positioned to give the public and the invited guests the best view possible to watch the show. Both interviewees touched on the importance for all stakeholders to rally behind the carnival.

With 26 more days to go before the official opening of Carnaval International de Victoria, Minister Alain St.Ange and the Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board explained that the international delegations participating in this year’s carnival are growing in numbers and that registration is still open for local floats. Keeping the winning prizes for the carnival floats as a surprise, both interviewees stated that for this third edition, Seychelles will once again showcase to the world that it upholds its reputation as one of the smallest capitals in the world hosting the best carnival of the “melting pot of cultures” together with La Reunion, Madagascar, and Zimbabwe as the co-host countries.

The carnival’s newly-released Creole song, “Desann pour sa Karnival” - a remake of the 1976 independence song by John Wirtz and George Payet - was aired for the first time on radio. The live talk show will be aired on SBC Paradise FM on Tuesday, January 15.
