Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture briefed on the coming carnival in Seychelles

Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture briefed on the coming carnival in Seychelles ( Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and his Special Advisor, Mrs. Raymonde Onezime, were briefed this morning on the final arrangements on the coming carnival in the Seychelles. It was Marymonde Matatiken who led the Tourism Board delegation to the Minister’s Office. Marymonde Matatiken is the Head of the Celebrate Seychelles Events Department at the Tourism Board, and she was accompanied by Sharon Francois from her Department; Jenifer Sinon, the Administration and HR Manager of the Tourism Board; and Amy Michel, a Senior Marketing Executive at the Tourism Board.

The News Bureau of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture were also in attendance and represented by Bernadette Honore and Mary-Anne Nibourette.

The Minister received a copy of the final arrangements on the “carnival of carnivals” including the long list of international delegations, press, and VIPs flying to Seychelles.

“It is very clear that we are ready,” said the Minister happily after the meeting. Seychelles has managed to maintain the long list of friendly countries sending delegations for the carnival parade that will be taking plane on February 9, and this blends in well with the carnival theme of being the melting pot of cultures. “Again this year we shall see delegations from the Americas, to Asia, to Europe joining the African delegations walking alongside the best and mostknown carnivals of the world. The long list of delegations is not shy of its culture and of its people, and from February 8-10 they will fly their flag high as they showcase their people, culture, and employees,” Minister St.Ange said.

From today, final meetings will be held with the Roads Department, Police, Environment, PUC, and Security to go over the traditional carnival official opening ceremony at the Clock Tower and the parade route.

Meetings will also be organized with the local participants to ensure a smooth carnival parade for the enjoyment of everyone. This year a special Press Area will be cordoned off because of the large number of press expected to be covering the carnival.

The 2013 Carnaval International de Victoria is this year being co-hosted by Seychelles, La Reunion, Madagascar, and Zimbabwe.
