Seychelles setting up its first Espace du Livre Francophone

Seychelles setting up its first Espace du Livre Francophone ( Seychelles first “Espace du livre Francophone” is being conceived, and it is set to introduce children to a new universe of French books.

A consignment of 1,800 books generously donated by the International organization of the “Francophonie” is already in the country waiting to be placed in a section dedicated for children. In addition to reading, “Espace du Livre Francophone” will include a playing area where soft toys and educational games donated by the International Organization of the “Francophonie” will be conserved in this section for children using the library.

In order to design the “Espace du livre Francophone” in Seychelles, support is being provided to the staff at the children’s library from Eric Weber, a representative of the International Organization of the “Francophonie.”

During one of his visits at the National Library, Eric Weber paid a courtesy call to Mr. Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister of Tourism and Culture. Eric Weber briefed Minister St.Ange on the outcome of his visits to the library and the different meetings to create the “Espace du livre Francophone.”

“The work done by the team of the National Library is commendable. However, my recommendation is for the National Library to work with more partners to update its book collection,” said Eric Weber.

Eric Weber acknowledged that the “Espace du Livre Francophone” in Seychelles will enable the International Organization of the “Francophonie” to be one step closer to fulfilling the mission of linguistic achievements as per its mission statement.

Minister Alain St.Ange told Mr. Eric Weber that he appreciated his help in designing the “Espace du Livre Francophone.” Just days before the meeting with Mr. Weber, Minister St.Ange had met Mrs. Imma TorFaus, the “Sous Director” of French language within the International Organization of the “Francophonie.”

The “Espace du Livre Francophone” will be officially opened on February 21, 2013, by Mr. Clement Duhaime, the General Manager of the International Organization of the “Francophonie.”

The International Organization of the “Francophonie” has already established the “Espace du Livre Francophone” in Mozambique, Armenia, Ghana, and St. Lucia.
