Seychelles Minister says thank you to the staff of the Seychelles Conservatoire of Performing Arts

Seychelles Minister says thank you to the staff of the Seychelles Conservatoire of Performing Arts (Forimmediaterelease.net) The Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, Minister Alain St.Ange, and senior staff of his Ministry met with teachers of dance and music, as well as support staff of the National Conservatoire of Performing Arts (NCPA) earlier this week at the National Cultural Centre’s Conference Room.

The meeting to formally meet and hear from each employee started out with a short review of the year’s work and gradually went into proposed activities and a discussion about the status of work and work atmosphere at the National Conservatoire of Performing Arts. Some very important areas that needed re-structuring and others that require additional support and financial back-up were outlined by members of the staff in an open discussion that followed an open question-and-answer session.

Minister St.Ange informed the members of staff that with the approval of both the Creative Industries Policy of the Republic of Seychelles and the Implementation Strategy of Music Development, most of the activities now housed at NCPA would be absorbed by the program.

It is important to note that the performing arts center at Mont Fleuri has never really been designed and equipped with the required facilities to support a growing program in music, dance, and drama. However, even with the small rooms and several other issues, the students continue to progress to reach international standards in ABRSM and ISTD Examinations; the two boards in London with which NCPA is affiliated for certification.

During the meeting, the senior management recognized that the staff of NCPA was working hard for Seychelles as it was recognized that the time had come for the school to be located in more appropriate studios, with more support and coordinated programs and with more exposure for the performing arts in general.

It was with this that the NCPA Director, Pierre Joseph, commanded the work of all employees and Jerry Souris, Head of Music, acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s office on behalf of the workers present.
