Kreol Festival remains a people's event for Seychelles

Kreol Festival remains a people's event for Seychelles ( The message coming from Seychelles was clear and was received by all the visiting press. Alain St.Ange, the island’s Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture said, “Our Festival Kreol is a people’s celebration of their culture.”

This strong and deep statement was better understood when Seychelles closed Victoria, their capital, for the youth of the islands to use as a stage to showcase their traditional dances. Four of the islands main crossroads that meet at the City Center Clock Tower or Little Big Ben, as it is also commonly referred to as, was closed for this hour-long celebration of cultural expressions through song and dance.

Few cities will give so much importance to the display of culture as was evident in Seychelles during their 2012 Festival Kreol. “We can do that not only because we all believe that Victoria i, and Victoria will remain the Creole Capital of the World, but because we are and we remain ‘One People with One Culture,’” said Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture.

“This is why we shall work to keep this activity centered not only in Victoria, but in the heart of Victoria itself, the Capital City, that has earned the name of the Creole Capital of the World,” Minister St.Ange said.
