Creole Beauty Queens join together for Seychelles Festival Kreol 2012 ( The Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Beauty Queens are in Seychelles for the island’s Festival Kreol 2012. Miss Mauritius and Miss Rodgrigues flew into Seychelles to join Miss Seychelles to be together in a show of force to display the Creole islands’ glamour during the week-long festival.

The President of Miss Mauritius National Pageant, Mrs. Primerose Obeegadoo, accompanied by Miss Mauritius, Miss Rodrigues, and Miss Seychelles paid a courtesy visit after her arrival in Seychelles to the island’s Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Alain St.Ange. Also present during the discussions was Mr. Serge Clair, the Commissioner from the Mauritius island of Rodrigues.

Both Minister St.Ange and Mrs. Obeegadoo talked about the various beauty pageants being currently organized and also on the possibility of including in the future the three Creole Beauty Queens in those pageants.

Mrs. Obeegadoo has given her full support to Minister St.Ange’s proposition to work together to dedicate one float in the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands’ Carnaval International de Victoria to the Indian Ocean Beauty Queens. “This would be a step forward in portraying regional unity,” Mrs. Obeegadoo said. Alain St.Ange, the Tourism and Culture Minister from Seychelles presented Miss Mauritius, Miss Rodrigues, and Mrs. Obeegadooo with a signed copy each of limited edition “Seychelles enters the world of Carnaval,” book .

Mrs. Obeegadoo used the opportunity to expressed her concern about people stigmatizing pageant participants as only objects of beauty stating that the elected Beauty Queens possess not only physical but inner beauty as well, “They are highly-intellectual individuals whose wishes are to act as ambassadors for their country.” Mrs. Obeegadoo said.

Minister St. Ange on his side reaffirmed that he will make it his obligation to continue to not only promote the annual Miss Seychelles Beauty Pageant but to also ensure that all the crowned Seychelles Beauty Queens receive the visibility they deserve as they take their role as Ambassadors for their country.

The three Creole Beauty Queens will be the distinguished guests of the Festival Kreol 2012. They will be in attendance at the Festival Opening Ceremony, the Kreolophone Kiosks, and at other Festival Kreol activities which starts today and ends on October 31.
