Seychelles welcomes International delegations for the island’s 2012 Festival Kreol ( Seychelles has been welcoming international delegations for their 27th edition of the island’s Festival Kreol. The delegation from the Mauritian island of Rodrigues was headed by Mr. Serge Clair, the Island Commissioner. The Rodrigues delegation arrived but one day before the official opening of the Seychelles Festival Kreol. Singers, dancers, choreographers, percussionists, drummers, accordionists, and cooks descended from the flight from Mauritius in a jovial and festive mood.

Mrs. Raymonde Onezime, the Special Advisor to the Seychelles Minister of Tourism and Culture, was at the International Airport to welcome the Rodrigues Commissioner and his delegation. Mr. Serge Clair has expressed his appreciation for being present in Seychelles for island’s 27th edition of their Festival Kreol. He said that he will seize the opportunity of his visit to discuss areas of cooperation between Seychelles and Rodrigues. Mr. Serge Clair said that Rodrigues is studying the possibility of introducing Creole in the school’s curriculum. During his visit in Seychelles he will hold talks with the Ministry of Education to seek Seychelles’ assistance in this domain. Mr. Serge Clair will also call on Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism&Culture, and on Health Minister.

The crowned beauty queen of Rodrigues island, the ravishing Murielle Ravina, wearing her official sash, and Miss Mauritius, Biya Beeltah, were on board the flight coming from Mauritius. Miss Rodrigues and Miss Mauritius will be representing their islands at the Creole Village erected in the garden of the National Cultural Centre during Festival Kreol.

Just one day before the grand opening of Seychelles Festival Kreol, more international delegations are landing in Seychelles. Participants from La Reunion, Mauritius, Canada, Germany, and Japan are also arriving in Seychelles. The La Reunion and Mauritius delegations will be showcasing their culture in the Creole village while delegates from Canada, Germany, and Japan will be attending the international colloquium. Journalists reporting on Festival Kreol have also touched down on Seychelles island. TV Kreol and Le Mauricien are in the country to report on the festival. They will be joined by the Mauritius Broadcasting Cooperation, MCB, and free lancers from France.
