Limassol joins ICTP as destination member
The aim of the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company Ltd. is to promote the further development of the basic and tourist infrastructure of the Limassol region, a year-round destination of Cyprus, and to market the area as a distinct cosmopolitan seaside destination with a unique identity, based on its rich history and culture, its special characteristics including the fact that it is centrally located so as to be able to visit any other city of Cyprus, as well as the Troodos mountains within less than an hour, and the wide variety of options available for tourists including: enjoying the sun and sea, sports, culture, sightseeing, cycling, bird watching, spa services, mini cruises to nearby destinations, rural tourism, nature trails, Byzantine churches routes, wine routes, and much more.
As the easternmost country of the European Union and at the crossroads of three continents, Cyprus is a perfect place for conferences, exhibitions, corporate events, and incentive travel programs.
Other than its convenient geographical position, the exquisite natural beauty and enviable climate make the Limassol region a welcoming choice. In addition to the conference centers, many four- and five-star hotels along the beach provide a range of purpose-built facilities catering to all types of meetings, from small seminars of just a few people to full-scale conventions of over a thousand
ICTP Chairman Juergen T. Steinmetz said: “The city’s sophisticated infrastructure, well-equipped facilities, advanced telecommunications and IT services, and safe environment all assist to create a favorable framework for any international conference or meeting. We are pleased to have the Limassol Tourism Board join ICTP.”
The city's carefree holiday atmosphere, with wide seafront promenade and bustling streets, is matched by the friendly and lively character of its people. There is much to do and see, all within short distances. With 10,000 years of history there are many archaeological sites and museums to visit. As a shopping center, Limassol offers the full gamut from ultra-modern to traditional and handmade. Known for their vineyards, spectacular wine tours of mountainous villages as well as nature trails, Byzantine church routes and excursions are available to those who wish to capture a genuine taste of nature and tradition.
