Seychelles Karting Association at the 2012 Endurance Challenge at Kartdrome Championship in Dubai ( Drivers from the Seychelles Karting Association have flown to United Arab Emirates to represent Seychelles at the 12-hour Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship in Dubai. Prior to their departure, kart drivers of the two Seychelles teams and their officials were presented with their airline tickets by the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, in a short ceremony at the Minister’s conference room.

The Seychelles Minister St.Ange said that their participation is a good for the visibility of Seychelles tourism.

“I am honored that a new group of people will be helping with the marketing of Seychelles as they are flying high the country’s color,” said Minister St.Ange.
The Minister explained that the Seychelles Karting Association sought the support of the Seychelles Tourism Board and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to embark on this great event, and said that their “move to participate in the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship demonstrates that Seychellois are taking the lead from different approaches in the promotion of Seychelles.”

The Chairperson of Seychelles Karting Association, Liza Rene-Cosgrow, said that the United Arab Emirates Championship is the team’s first ever official trip overseas.

“It will surely go down as a good experience for the team and a milestone for our sport,” said Liza Rene – Cosgrow.

The Chairperson of Seychelles Karting Association wished the team the best of luck, noting that “completing the event is a victory in itself.”

Sponsors contributing to the team’s official trip to the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship are: Reliance Insurance Brokers, Berlouis Mondon Design Studio, Vijay Construction, Hunt Deltel&Co Ltd., EHW Honda, the SKA, Excel Motors, Vijay Construction Company Limited, Best Way Plumbing, Elite Car Hire, Cubana Car Hire, the National Sports Council, Water world Boat& Yacht Charter, Land Marine Company , Boat House Restaurant, Yangtze Construction, F. Simon&Son, ALT Engineering, Sacos and Surfers Restaurant.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, congratulated those companies for having come forward to make this trip for the two teams of drivers to travel to Dubai. “Helping make projects of national importance happen remains a matter for companies who are committed to the country and who believe that they have a social responsibility and duty to the country and to our people,” Minister St.Ange said.

“Often you find charitable companies committed to social responsibilities. They are to be commended for believing in the success of our young Seychellois. We need to spread the word for other companies to come on board and contribute to social and national projects,” said Minister St.Ange.

The two teams representing Seychelles at the 2012 Endurance challenge at Dubai Kartdrome is comprised of David Rene, Captain of team number one. His drivers are Peter Fred, Roland Delcy, Marc Delcy, and Damian Bonnelame. John Simon is the team number two captain. Other team members are Stephan Simon, Dane Decommarmond, Marvin Sophie, and Redmond Bonnelame.

The ceremony of presentation of tickets to the drivers of the two Seychelles teams was attended by the Chief Executive of Seychelles Tourism Board, Elsia Grandcourt, Seychelles Tourism Board officials, representatives of sponsors, kart drivers, and members of the Seychelles Karting Association.

The 2012 Endurance Challenge at Dubai Kardrome is dubbed as “extreme racing” and it is a “mainstay of the UAE motorsport Calendar.”
